Windows 11 KB5018427 (22H2) release

Windows 11 KB5018427 is now available for version 22H2 (Windows 11 2022 Update) with lots of quality improvements. This is the first patch for Windows 11 version 22H2 and KB5018427 offline installers are also available for download on the Microsoft Update Catalog, but the patch can always be installed via Windows Update.

KB5018427 is a 'Security' update and is marked 'Critical' which means Microsoft will download and install it for you at some point in the future. In other words, if you want to skip this particular cumulative update, you have to pause it by clicking the 'Pause Update' button for 7 days.

This cumulative update is rolling out as part of the Windows 11 October 2022 Update.

The focus of the update is on quality improvements and security fixes, so it doesn’t come with new features like File Explorer tabs and overflow taskbar UI.

Those features are expected to ship later this year month as an optional update (Moment 1).
