Who is Suella Braverman, whose India remarks sparked row

Suella Braverman's parents are of Indian origin and emigrated to the UK in the 1960s. As a politician, he has defended British colonialism and taken a tough stand on immigrants.

While Braverman has resigned over a “technical” breach of government rules — she sent an official document from her personal email account —  in her resignation letter, she also criticized Prime Minister Liz Truss, saying she had “concerns about the direction of this government”.

The UK's new interior minister will be Grant Shapps, who did not support a truce for the PM post and was removed as transport minister when he came to power.

Braverman had recently thrown a spanner with his comments about Indian expatriates staying longer on their visas in the works for the India-UK trade deal.

The latter, apparently in the correction, said "The India story and the UK story are so closely intertwined that they are largely the same story."
